Sigma or Tamron?

I want to buy a zoom-lens for traveling: Comparing Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM with Tamron Objektiv AF 18-270mm, f/3,5 -6,3 Di II VC PZD. After reading several reviews I could not reach a conclusion. Could anybody advice on it?
Many thanks!

Only via a bit of lateral thinking. What I can tell you is that the Pentax/Tamron 18-250mm lens is a splendid travel lens.

The Tamron 18-270mm is only available from Tamron and not as a Pentax version, but tests in magazines have suggested that it's even better.

On that basis, I personally would happily buy the Tamron. I can't comment on the Sigma.

Hope that helps.

Hi John
Many thanks for your tip!
Actually I shall use the lens with a Nikon d7000, mainly as a travel lens. I am still concerning about lens quality and performance, and could not yet take a decision. So far I am still using the Nikkor set lens 18-105 mm, which does not cover the needs of travel lens.

Hi Carlos

If I could afford it, I would buy whatever lens Nikon themselves offer. But that's another story...

Could you not visit a dealer who would alloow you to take some test shots at the shop?

Best regards

I think you should go for sigma.
