Tokina Reflex 300mm MF Macro Lens Review
Tokina 300mm F/6.3 Compact Super Telephoto Lens Sample Photos
This lens won't win any prizes for resolution, but can be acceptable if extreme care is taken | 1/500 sec | f/6.3 | 300.0 mm | ISO 250 | Doughnut shaped highlights and low contrast are typical with mirror lenses | 1/400 sec | f/6.3 | 300.0 mm | ISO 800 |
Focusing can be difficult at distances over 10 metres as the slightest movement of the focus ring can throw your subject out of focus. Low contrast also makes it difficult to see how sharp your subject is | 1/500 sec | f/6.3 | 300.0 mm | ISO 640 | Subjects with lots of contrast and hard edges are much easier to focus on | 1/2500 sec | f/6.3 | 300.0 mm | ISO 160 |
1/500 sec | f/6.3 | 300.0 mm | ISO 640 | 1/500 sec | f/6.3 | 300.0 mm | ISO 200 |
1/500 sec | f/6.3 | 300.0 mm | ISO 400 | 1/500 sec | f/6.3 | 300.0 mm | ISO 200 |
Value for Money
The value this lens represents will largely depend upon your expectations. The price is low for the field of view it provides, but then the performance of this lens is also quite low.If you like the look mirror lenses produce and don't mind the lack of sharpness and low contrast, it could represent good value, in the same way that the plastic lenses fitted to Lomo cameras produce a certain look, that may be desirable for some.
